Russel Heat was born October 9th 2367 to his father, Adam Heat, and his mother, Germaine Terry, in the city of New Orleans in America. He grew up with his family in a fairly small neighborhood in which the houses other than his own contained no children. With no other children to play with, young Russel gained an attatchment to fireworks, mainly large firecrackers. He went on to create a homemade firecracker, and upon detonation impressed his father when destroying the family mailbox. Adam Heat, being a former Marauder, encouraged his son to practice in the empty field behind his backyard.
Russel's pyrotechnic abilities would conflict with his school life. Although he scored highly in all subjects, and easily impressed the school children with his fireworks, the problems he had with his school revolved around him and bringing his explosives along with him.
After being expelled from three junior high schools, his father paid for homeschooling lessons, so that Russel's interest in explosives did not deter his education. Once lessons were over, Heat went back to creating fireworks to entertain the kids at his former schools in the field behind his house.
Many years later, and Russel had to resort to attending Delgado Community College because of the expulsions on his record. In order to pay for his own education, Heat starting selling his fireworks and held several firework displays, along with planning each display every holiday, for which he became known for.
When he finished college, he followed his father's steps to become a Mobile Infantry Marauder.
